Stone County VINELink Coverage
MOVANS stands for Missouri Victim Automated Notification System. The service sends court-event notices for all offenders. Per the Missouri Department of Public Safety registration page, it also sends custody updates for people held in local jails, detention centers, or Missouri Department of Corrections custody. You reach it through VINELink.
The state does not publish a participation table naming Stone County. So pick Missouri first. Search for Stone County or the Stone County Detention Center, and see whether the record appears. Never assume participation from the statewide description. A blank result is not proof the arrest never happened. Call the jail or MOVANS instead.
The VINELink Missouri search route is the direct state entry point.

This is the correct state selection before checking for Stone County records.
Check a Stone County Arrest
Search one person at a time. Enter a full legal name plus any ID or booking detail you have. Common names often return several Stone County records. Compare the agency, location, age, and other identifiers the live interface shows. A similar name alone is never enough to pick a record.
- Open VINELink and choose Missouri.
- Select the person or offender search offered by the current interface.
- Enter the name or available ID information exactly.
- Narrow the result to Stone County or the Stone County Detention Center when that option appears.
- Compare all identifying details before opening a record.
- Read the reporting agency, location, custody state, and notification options.
A failed search has many causes. Misspelling, intake lag, a release, a transfer, or an unsupported feed can all hide a record. Try the official Stone County current roster for the local jail display. You can also call the jail at 417-357-6652 for a direct status check. The Stone County recent arrests hub sorts out jail, court, state, and federal record paths.
Stone VINELink Result Fields
The live result varies by record. It may show identifying details, custody status, a location or reason, the reporting agency, and any notification options. It describes a custody state, not a full police report or court judgment.
| Possible field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Name and identifiers | Compare all details before treating a match as the correct person. |
| Custody status | Read the current label and its update time if shown. |
| Facility or location | Identifies the reporting site, subject to transfer and lag. |
| Reporting agency | Shows which participant supplied the status. |
| Notification action | Starts registration when alerts are offered for that record. |
To see how a filed case ends, follow it through Missouri Case.net or the circuit court. The disposition there is the recorded outcome of the case.
Register for MOVANS Alerts
Registration starts from a confirmed person record, using the notification option the live interface offers. Missouri changed delivery methods in May 2026. Notices now arrive by SMS text or email. Phone-call and app alerts were discontinued, so older guides built around calls, an app, or an old PIN workflow may be stale.
- Confirm the correct person and participating record.
- Choose the registration or notification option.
- Select SMS text or email from the current choices.
- Enter contact information privately and complete any confirmation the live form requires.
- Select available custody or court-event notices.
- Save the registration details and keep the contact channel current.
The current VINELink registration route shows the notification stage.

Keep your registration contact data private. A subscriber needs a working text number or email address. Alerts can lag, fail, or arrive after an event. For an urgent safety or custody question, never lean on an automated notice alone. Call the holding agency directly.
Verify Stone Custody Changes
MOVANS and VINELink cover participating Missouri local-jail and DOC records. That is the whole footprint. They are not the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. They also are not the ICE detainee locator or a US Marshals Service system. Someone transferred from Stone County into state, federal, or immigration custody may drop off the county roster. That person may require a different official locator. Absence from VINELink does not mean the person was never booked.
For a fresh intake, cross-check the live sheriff roster. Add the Arrests Last 24 Hours method. A current roster card lists a booking number, timestamp, charge labels, bond, photo, and profile. The roster has no promised refresh interval. Both systems can trail events.
MOVANS answers local jail and court-registration questions at movans@dps.mo.gov or 573-526-1929, weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Missouri DOC custody questions go to victims@doc.mo.gov or 573-526-6516 during those same hours. The sheriff's jail line runs around the clock.
Missouri Notification Rules Changed
The April 2026 DPS update set the change for May 5, 2026. Anyone on phone or app alerts had to switch to SMS or email. Otherwise, register again. The date matters. Older instructions still describe phone calls, mobile apps, and a four-digit PIN. The official transition notice documents the channel change.

That notice governs how SMS and email delivery works after the transition. Missouri DPS also flags that MobilePatrol and Missouri Sheriff Connect are not MOVANS affiliates. Stone County has no official jail app. The sheriff's own SMS/email signup covers items posted to its website and does not promise a custody alert for every booking. Keep that site tool separate from MOVANS.
Stone Custody Systems Differ
Each system covers one slice of custody. The county roster handles current local jail custody. Its released mode lists recent departures inside a stated rolling window. VINELink provides a person-specific record and notifications for supported offenders. Missouri DOC search takes over once someone enters state supervision. Federal cases belong to BOP or ICE systems. Case.net follows the filed case rather than the cell block.
- Booking
- Jail intake that records identity, custody, and initial charge data.
- Transfer
- Movement from one holding agency or facility to another.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome of a court case.
- Detainer
- A request or hold tied to another authority; it is not itself the final case result.
The tools answer different questions. Verify with the named agency before acting on a notification, since safety plans, travel, court attendance, and contact with a detained person can all hinge on current status.
Respond to Stone Custody Alerts
An alert is a prompt, not a certified timeline. Read the agency, facility, status, and time in the message. Then open the live VINELink record. Or call the facility with a number from its official website. Skip any link or phone number pasted into an unexpected message. Do that when the sender is unclear.
A release alert tells you the participating record reports a custody change. It says nothing about the court outcome or release conditions. Another agency may have taken custody at once. A transfer alert signals movement too, though the receiving system can lag. When location matters, ask the named agencies which one holds the person now.
Missing an expected message? Confirm the registration still uses a current text number or email. Check spam filters, blocked senders, and the live record's notification choices. Anyone who relied on the former call or app channels may need to register again. That follows Missouri's 2026 transition. MOVANS support can sort out registration problems. The jail answers direct Stone County custody questions.
Keep confirmation codes private. Guard contact details the same way. Shared channels are a poor choice when confidentiality matters. The service is free, though a user's carrier may still apply message or data terms. Never post another person's custody registration details in a public forum.
No Stone VINELink Match
Search again with verified spelling first. A middle name or booking number separates close matches. If the arrest just happened, give booking processing time and check the sheriff roster. The person may have been cited, released, transferred, or booked outside Stone County entirely.
Missouri DOC search covers state supervision only. BOP handles federal prisoners, and ICE runs its own detainee locator. Court records show what was filed. They say nothing about tonight's location. Matching the source to the custody stage prevents false matches and missed transfers.
No online answer? Call the Stone County Detention Center with the full name and any booking details known. For a documentary record, contact the arresting agency or the sheriff's records custodian. A written request for an arrest report or booking sheet works under Missouri access rules.
